Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his distinct blend of soul gospel jazz R&B as well as R&B. She's performed on Broadway in the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine's birth name is Denise White. The singer hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing the piano and singing at church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship within the city's R&B scene. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007 approached her to be the choral leader for this theatrical production. Sunshine was caught the attention of people across the nation through daily performances of four at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine continued to receive recognition when she was requested to sing with the President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
